The Insights Colour Energies: A Closer Look

At the heart of Insights Discovery are the four Colour Energies. Each represents a different behavioural preference, and every person uses all four, just in different amounts. Your unique blend shapes how you communicate, make decisions, handle pressure, and build relationships.
I was first introduced to these while working at British Telecom, and later brought them into PlayStation Europe and, eventually, the US. What struck me then, and still does now, is how quickly people recognise themselves, and each other, once they learn the language.
Fiery Red: direct, action-focused, tasks, results
Leaders who are Fiery Red are direct and to the point, demonstrate a sense of urgency, and can quickly establish the pros and cons of a course of action, clearly stating what has to be done, by whom, and by when. Managers who are Fiery Red have a strong determination that influences those they interact with, focused on tasks, results, and achievements. Sunshine Yellow: sociable, energetic, expressive
Leaders who are Sunshine Yellow imagine “what could be,” involve people, enjoy stimulating group discussion, and often act as a catalyst for future growth. Managers who are Sunshine Yellow prefer to engage with others and talk through what they've experienced.
Earth Green: calm, supportive, values-driven
Leaders who are Earth Green are careful not to overuse their authority, relying instead on personal and subjective criteria, values, opinions, and beliefs, aiming to create the ideal working environment. Managers who are Earth Green focus on mutual benefit and relationships, letting their values define how they work.
Cool Blue: thoughtful, precise, analytical
Leaders who are Cool Blue use sound rationale and logical reasoning, processing information methodically and giving others time to think before reaching a conclusion. Managers who are Cool Blue prefer structure, order, and accuracy, with time to review and reflect before committing.
These energies aren't labels, they're lenses. They help you understand your natural strengths, your blind spots, and the behaviours you lean on under pressure. When you recognise your own blend, you begin to understand why others see things differently, and how to adapt your approach to connect more effectively. Real-World Benefits
Organisations use the Colour Energies to improve communication instantly, reduce conflict through shared understanding, strengthen collaboration and trust, build leadership presence, and create a more positive, productive culture. It's a model simple enough to remember, yet powerful enough to change how people work together, I've seen it happen in a single session, more than once.
If you're ready to bring this into your team, I'd love to talk it through. Visit www.loving-light.co.uk to book an Insights consultation.
